The NSGP provides funding support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack. The program seeks to integrate the preparedness activities of nonprofit organizations with broader state and local preparedness efforts. The NSGP also serves to promote emergency preparedness coordination and collaboration activities between public and private community representatives as well as state and local government agencies.

The FY22 allocation for the Arizona State Nonprofit Security Grant Program was $1,950,000.

Effective August 13, 2020, FEMA recipients and subrecipients may not use any FEMA funds under open or new awards to:
Eligible applicants are Arizona nonprofit organizations 1) designated as a 501(c)3 agency; and (2) Determined to be at high risk of a terrorist attack by the Secretary of DHS.
Applications were to be submitted to AZDHS by April 21, 2023 by 5:00 p.m. The AZDHS was to apply to FEMA on behalf of state and local agencies by May 18, 2023. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Up to $2,550,000 is available in FY23 for the State of Arizona. Nonprofit organizations with one site may apply for up to $150,000 for that site. Sub-applicants with multiple sites may apply for up to $150,000 per site, for up to three sites, for a maximum of $450,000 per sub-applicant.
Cost sharing/matching is not required. Project period is 36 months beginning September 1, 2023.
