The mission of the Jessie Smith Darrah Fund is to assist, support, promote, and advance charitable, philanthropic, religious, educational, patriotic, health, and social purposes and objectives, to advance and promote human welfare and well-being, encourage and advance good citizenship, and to assist research relating to some or all of these purposes.
Program interests – Churches, Youth Groups, Education, Charitable -with emphasis on the First Methodist Church of Jamestown, YWCA of Jamestown, United Way, Red Cross, Chautauqua Institution, Gerry Homes, and YMCA of Jamestown.
The Jessie Smith Darrah Fund has given a total of $305,000 in grants in 2018. Recent awardees include: Food Bank of Western New York, National Heritage Trust, Chautauqua County Humane Society and United Christian Advocacy Network.
