    Summary

    The Foundation for Enhancing Communities seeks to stimulate philanthropy and enhance the quality of life in the community through accumulating, managing and disbursing financial assets, and to serve as a catalyst and neutral convener to meet a wide range of community needs in the south central Pennsylvania counties of Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, and Perry, and also in the Dillsburg area. The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) has made available the following grant opportunities:

    • Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator Program: The Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator Program (the Program”) is designed to pair access to existing small business consulting services with financial resources for creative entrepreneurs who aspire to start their own for-profit business or who operate an existing for-profit micro business. The Program's purpose is to help creative entrepreneurs to grow their business, audience, and revenue. The Program will advance the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts' overarching value of diversity, equity, and inclusion and prioritize investments to creative entrepreneurs who identify Black, Indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC”) and those who are located in and whose work benefits low-income communities as defined by the Small Business Administration.
    • Creative Sector Flex Fund: The CSFF is designed to address the changing needs of dynamic PA arts organizations with average annual revenue between $10,000 – $200,000.? 
    • Emerging Philanthropist Program: Priority is given to Decreasing childhood poverty by eliminating barriers to education. Proposed projects and/or programs must take place in Harrisburg and surrounding areas and preference will be given to proposals serving children ages birth-10 years of age.
    • Greater Harrisburg Foundation Benjamin Franklin Trust Fund: Priority is given to programs and services that work to increase the knowledge, quality of life, or inspire positive outcomes for individuals and families living in the service area of Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Mifflin, Lebanon, and Perry Counties, and/or the Dillsburg area of York County.
    • Greater Harrisburg Foundation Upstream: GHF Upstream seeks to improve our area communities by supporting existing or new upstream” systems, interventions, programs, or projects that attempt to create positive social change by addressing a problem at its source rather than managing its downstream” symptoms.
    • Madden Family Foundation Fund: The Madden's seek to provide equal access to high-quality education and resources through partnerships with schools, programs, and communities.
    • Martin M. Sacks Memorial Fund: Priority is given to youth and family oriented programs and services that are consistent with the mission of the applicant organization.
    • The Fund for Women and Girls: The mission of The Fund for Women & Girls, a special initiative of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, is to broaden the awareness of and response to issues affecting women and girls through the power of collective philanthropy.

    The Foundation for Enhancing Communities was established in 1920 in Pennsylvania. The foundation does not maintain a website. Please contact the foundation to verify eligibility prior to submission of a full application. Funds may be used for the following purposes:
    • Equipment
    • General support
    • Program development
    • Publications
    • Scholarships
    • Seed money
    • Student aid
    • Technical assistance
    No support for religious organizations for religious purposes (except from Donor-Advised or Restricted funds), or for private foundations or discretionary funds. No grants to individuals (except for scholarships).
