    The Mutual of Omaha Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the metropolitan area of Omaha, Nebraska. Their mission is two-fold: Break the cycle of poverty and invest in major capital projects that strengthen the community. The Foundation operates with the following core values:

    The Foundation considers requests addressing issues within three focus areas and priority funding categories:

    Priority is given to organizations with outcomes measures in place and can adequately show the impact of their programs within the grant application. When the foundation asks for client impact, they are looking for program-specific, direct service-related information.


    Capital Campaign Support

    Capital campaign applications are by invitation only. Priority is given to organizations with an existing funding relationship.

     

    History of Funding

    Additional Information

    Funding is not available for:

    • Programs that do not address one of the focus areas and funding priorities of the Foundation
    • Organizations outside of the geographic area of Douglas (NE), Sarpy (NE) and Pottawattamie (IA) counties
    • Organizations that are not tracking program outcomes
    • Endowment funds
    • Projects of religious denominations or sects, other than eligible educational, health or human service-related projects
    • Support of individuals including education, research, travel, sports sponsorships or product development
    • Travel for individuals or groups
    • Event sponsorships, tickets/tables
    • Team sponsorships or athletic scholarships
    • Requests for civic or commemorative advertising
    • Social clubs, labor or fraternal organizations
    • Festival participation
    • The creation or maintenance of monuments or memorials

  • Eligibility Details

    The Mutual of Omaha Foundation limits grants to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations that provide direct client service in the tri-county area of Douglas (NE), Sarpy (NE), and/or Pottawattamie (IA) counties. The foundation's decision making is also influenced by collaboration. Applicants are expected to have an understanding of other organizations working in the same issues and articulate how they work together when applicable.

    Deadline Details

    The Foundation accepts applications two times per year:

    • For review at the Spring meeting: Applications accepted December 15 - February 1, annually.
    • For review at the Fall meeting: Applications accepted June 15 - August 1, annually.

    Requests for Foundation funding must be submitted through the online application on the program page. Hard copy requests are not accepted.
