Established to streamline justice funding and grant administration, the JAG Program allows states, tribes, and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own local needs and conditions. The program provide agencies with the flexibility to prioritize and place justice funds where they are needed most. JAG funds may be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and criminal justice information systems that will improve or enhance such areas as:
The JAGC (countywide) program represents approximately 85% of Florida's total federal award. The JAGD (direct) program represents the remaining 15% of Florida's total federal award.

Eligible applicants are Florida cities, counties, towns, townships, boroughs, parishes, villages, or other general-purpose political subdivision of the state including Native American Tribes who perform law enforcement functions that do NOT receive a direct allocation of JAG funding from the Department of Justice annually.
Applications were to be submitted by September 1, 2023. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Awards under Florida's JAGD program range from $1,000 to $10,000.
