Summary
Previously called the Local Law Enforcement Equipment Grant (LLEEG), the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program (LLEBG) provides federal grant funds (through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program) to cities and counties to support law enforcement agencies through the hiring of officers, paying officer overtime, purchasing law enforcement equipment, enhancing school security, drug courts, adjudication of violent offenders, multi-jurisdictional task forces, crime prevention, and indemnification insurance.
Eligible expenses for this program include, but are not limited to:
- Bullet Proof Vest / Body Armor
- Communications Antenna
- Computer (desktop, laptop, tablet)
- Computer Software
- Intoximeter
- Night Vision Goggles
- Office Supplies
- Police Patrol Car Light Bars, Adaptor Mounts
- Radar Units
- Radios
- Salary for Officers
- Tactical Vests/Gear
- Uniforms
- Video Cameras (handheld, dash-mount, on-body)
- Video Monitors
- Voice Activated Personal Recorders

Eligibility Details
Eligible applicants are units of local government (cities and counties) that are ineligible to apply for direct federal JAG funds due to their small size.

Deadline Details
Round One applications were to be submitted by June 20, 2022.
Round Two applications are to be submitted by September 1, 2022.
Round Three applications are to be submitted by March 1, 2023.

Award Details
Maximum award amount is $3,000. Cost sharing/matching is not required. Project period for Round One is July 1, 2022 to September 15, 2022. Project period for Round Two is October 1, 2022 to December 30, 2022. Project period for Round Two is April 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.
