    Summary

The Shumaker Family Foundation supports endeavors in education, social justice, and environmental justice, and through these aims to create a more compassionate world where each person has opportunity to fully reach his or her potential.

Social Justice grants promote the welfare of groups of people who have been disadvantaged through no action or responsibility of their own. They specifically focus on domestic violence prevention and the development of leadership capability among people from disadvantaged groups.

Environmental grants go to organizations that seek to enrich our natural environment, lessen global warming, improve animal welfare, and/or educate human beings to work toward these purposes.

Within Education, the Foundation favors projects that show the fascination and potentiality of math, physical science, engineering, and the Arts to young people who otherwise might not receive such exposure. They also support early childhood (0-3 years) education and strengthening of the education process.

Preference will be given to organizations and programs that address two or more of the funding areas.
