    Summary

The mission of the Hudson-Webber Foundation is to improve the quality of life in the metropolitan Detroit community. Areas of interest are as follows:

    • Arts & Culture: Access to art and cultural experiences is vitally important to quality of life. The arts are a way for Detroiters to connect to each other and the world. The city is home to artists and cultural institutions that have elevated Detroit's creative spirit for generations. The Hudson-Webber Foundation invests in the capacity of arts and cultural organizations to deliver quality, accessible, and engaging cultural programming, as well as increasing the diversity of voices reflected in the sector.
    • Built Environment: The physical spaces we occupy — our housing, workplaces, public spaces, parks, main streets, community facilities, and more — have a profound impact on our quality of life. Everything that is built contributes to the identity and speaks to the aspirations of Detroiters. The Hudson-Webber Foundation invests in exceptional buildings, housing, parks, and streetscapes, and encourages and supports practices that promote inclusivity and sustainability, and that reflect the authentic identity of Detroit.
    • Community & Economic Development: Quality of life in the city is dependent on economic growth strategies that intentionally connect people and communities to opportunity.  The Hudson-Webber Foundation invests in projects that strengthen neighborhoods, and that advance an equitable and inclusive economy, helping Detroiters access quality jobs and build wealth including through entrepreneurship and home ownership.
    • Safe & Just Communities: Quality of life in Detroit is tied to the city's ability to provide a fair criminal legal system that effectively addresses crime and its root causes and promotes enduring safety for Detroiters. The Hudson-Webber Foundation invests in innovative, racially equitable strategies that reduce crime and victimization and that improve community well-being.
