The WYDOT Highway Safety Office works to reduce traffic crashes, deaths, injuries and the associated economic losses in Wyoming through the coordinated efforts of state, local agencies and other safety partners. The Highway Safety Program provides project funding to help achieve stated program goals and objectives which address identified highway safety problems. Priorities of safety effort and location are based on projects with the greatest likelihood to impact crash and injury reduction.

Applications are reviewed by the Highway Safety Office who determines the ability of the proposed activity to improve statewide performance numbers. Resources are then aligned with project-level activity based on the significance of the problem and the availability of funding.

Applications are to be submitted by April 1, 2024 via e-mail to highway.safetygrants@wyo.gov. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Award amounts vary based on program area. Cost sharing/matching is not required. Project periods will extend 12-months, starting October 1.
